China’s first future-oriented time capsule has been installed at the Daocheng Astronomy Science and Technology Museum in Daocheng, Sichuan. The project is calling for submissions of cutting-edge scientific and technological achievements and records of mainstream civilization from the public. It is scheduled to be sealed in 2027 and unsealed 500 years later, aiming to pass down civilization across time and space.
It is also the country’s first large-scale time capsule truly built to transcend time and space. The Daocheng Astronomy Science and Technology Museum officially opened to the public on May 31, with the call for submissions for the time capsule launched simultaneously. The capsule will preserve the passion of the Chinese people in the new era for exploring the unknown, reverence for the laws of nature, and unremitting aspiration for a better life. The starlight over the plateau will serve as a unique witness to the enduring heritage of civilization across ages.
